The 2013 Mac Pro – which (perhaps prophetically) became known as the Trash Can Mac – could have mended the damage that had been done but unfortunately it made things even worse. This probably came to a head with the arrival of the 2013 Mac Pro, which came after years of complaint that Apple was neglecting creative pros and which Apple revealed at WWDC with much fanfare. Many felt neglected by the company who seemed to be spending more time on the iPhone and the consumer-focused Macs while ignoring – and often causing – problems of professionals. There are a few reasons why so many creatives ended their love affair with Apple. In the early days Apple’s Macs had some clear advantages over PCs that benefitted creatives, however in recent years Apple has lost the hearts of many of those creative professionals who used to choose Mac over PC. There was a time when Macs were loved by video editors. There’s a bit of an elephant in the room that we need to address first.
